My goal is to create compelling figurative and portrait work that will stand the test of time.
Each piece explores the unique character and strength of the model. My interest in celebrating women is key to my work. How we dress and put ourselves together tells a story about our personality. Our style tells the world how we want to be perceived.
My training as a fashion illustrator and designer is key to my monochromatic technique. I have taken all my life experiences as a woman, wife, mother and artist and fused them into each oil painting. The creative process starts way before the painting begins when I photograph my model. We spend a few hours together, like two girlfriends, walking the streets of New York City. Setting the mood for my photoshoot I find hidden gems of scenery as a backdrop. Once back in my studio I edit and manipulate these photos to create the image that will become the reference for each of my paintings. I aim to connect with the viewer by bringing attention to the unspoken body language of the models.
