Anne focuses on the architectural qualities of a subject to produce vibrant, semi-abstract paintings. The use of colour is fundamental to her practice – she loves balancing subtle hues with distinctive bursts of vibrancy. Her process is to develop an initial composition and then use loose brushwork to apply a first layer of paint. Each painting is built up through layering, incorporating a variety of textures and opacities of paint. The history of the painting is evident, as glimpses of earlier layers remain visible. The final image gradually emerges through this interplay, often retaining exciting unplanned and ambiguous elements.

After graduating in Physics, Anne worked for the BBC as a radio Studio Manager before raising her family. She is currently studying for an MA Painting at Manchester School of Art.
